Hull surveys are carried out on steel craft on a periodic basis in order to satisfy the owner and Insurance Companies of the continued good condition of the boat, or as part of a pre-purchase assessment.
The survey will only cover aspects that are normally below, or close to the waterline.
Hull Damage
Signs of damage to the plating and rubbing strakes
Hull Coating
Condition and extent of the coating
Hull Plate Condition
Percussion and Ultrasonic testing of the hull plates in selected areas to assess remaining thickness and assessment of corrosion
Welds and Rivets
Visual assessment of plate jointing
Weedhatch
Assessment of weedhatch and sealing
Steering
Assessment of the integrity and operation of the steering arrangements
Stern Seal
Assessment of the stern seal for leakage and integrity
Propeller and Shaft
Assessment of the integrity and corrosion of the propeller and prop shaft
What Floats Your Boat Marine Surveys will carry out the survey to the best of our ability and within the limitation of access and reasonable tests available. Surveyors carry out non-destructive tests in sample areas and cannot guarantee that latent faults or those that are not reasonably accessible will be noted. It should also be noted that the survey does not provide nor ensure compliance with BSS requirements.
A Hull Survey would not cover areas other than those detailed within the body of a report and outlined above.
See Terms and Conditions for a more full explanation of limitations
